New CLC Books are Arriving Daily!

Thanks to some thrifty saving during our CLC year, I was able to purchase many new, interesting books for the CLC classroom libraries! Can't wait to read them with my after school family next fall!

Father's Day Musings

Happy Father's Day!

I definitely owe my love of reading to my dad. He read me a bedtime story (or two) almost every night of my childhood. We didn't have the perfect family, but this one tradition was very reassuring as a kid. My Dad is a great storyteller, always using funny voices and singing the songs to his own tune.

Reading with my dad introduced me to some of my favorite books, books I now share with my
son. Here's a list of some of my favorite childhood books:

The Boy Who Was Followed Home by Steven Kellogg
Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish
Just Me and My Dad by Mercer Meyer
The Berenstain Bears by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Bedtime for Frances by Russel Hoban
Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss

Later, we read chapter books together (The Ramona Quimby series, The Hobbit), which I would recommend for any of our Sparta families! Happy Father's Day and Happy Reading!

Summer Book Suggestions

Currently Reading: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. A bit too grown up for my middle school students, but a great love story for the more mature crowd.

Welcome to my Book Blog!

Hello readers!

Welcome to my blog, a space to look for book suggestions and reviews, library news, and bookworm-worthy information!
I hope you're enjoying summer vacation. I've found that between the local festing, a trip to Milwaukee, and my son Gavin's busy summer school, I feel busier than during the school year! However, I am making reading a priority this summer... I hope you are, too!
